The Ministry Assistant supports the day-to-day ministry life of Open Door Congregational Church by ensuring clear communication, organized systems, and a welcoming Sunday experience. This role focuses on weekly communication tools, digital ministry platforms, and administrative support for ministry leaders, helping Open Door live out its mission to glorify God through lives of faith and obedience.
Hours
  • 10 hours per week  @ $18.50 per hour
  • Sunday hours are 9:30am to 11:30am
  • Weekday hours are Tuesday and Thursday in the office from 10:00am to 2:00pm
Key Responsibilities
Weekly Communication & Print Materials
  • Update, format, and print the weekly Sunday bulletin
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in weekly announcements
  • Coordinate bulletin content with comm team, Pastor and ministries leaders

Digital Ministry Platforms (shared responsibility with pastor and other volunteers)
  • Train to manage and maintain:
    • Canva (church graphics and communication materials)
    • Planning Center Online (volunteer scheduling and ministry coordination)
    • Subsplash (church app, announcements, and digital engagement)
  • Help ensure timely, clear communication with:
    • Ministry volunteers
    • Church members
    • Visitors and guests
Sunday Hospitality Support (serves as support to volunteer leaders)
  • Serve as a support to the Host Team on Sundays
  • Assist with communication cards, bulletins, and guest follow-up readiness
  • Help ensure a warm, organized, and welcoming environment for all attendees

Ministry & Administrative Support (as time allows)
  • Assist ministry leaders with administrative tasks as available
  • Support organization, scheduling, and communication needs across ministries
  • Help maintain simple systems that encourage volunteer effectiveness
Qualifications
  • A growing Christian faith and alignment with the mission and values of Open Door Congregational Church
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfortable learning and using digital tools (training period is provided)
  • Friendly, dependable, and able to work well with volunteers
  • Attention to detail and a heart for serving the church body
