Pastor Search - Open Door Congregational Church, Deer Park, Washington
Open Door Church seeks a Pastor to lead our congregation as we exist to glorify God through lives of faith and obedience.  This is our purpose as we share the Gospel, build Biblical relationships, employ spirit-given gifts and develop disciple making friendships.  The Pastoral Profile reflects the characteristics prayed for in the candidate who is called to Pastor and Shepherd the church.

The candidate should put a high priority on his personal devotion in the Lord, a believer in Jesus whose testimony confirms his conversion and whose testimony proclaims his faith, having a clear sense of calling to this ministry.
Committed to living a life worthy of Christ and teaching believers to be learners from and followers of Jesus in their relationships and daily lives, how to love and study God’s word, to pursue God’s will for themselves and for the church and to “bear fruit” for Jesus.

A candidate ordained as a servant of Christ with knowledge of the Scriptures, doctrine – and who continues to study and teach the Word of God and present it boldly in a clear and understandable manner, helping God’s people apply His Word in their daily lives.

Other concerns and qualities needed to shepherd/lead the church and care and concern skills, types and tenure/time of church ministry, philosophy of ministry and leadership, Family structure who supports children and youth ministries with a vision to encourage and equip Godly families.

The candidate should help lead in our mission to the members and to the community, recognizing leadership potential in others, helping them to develop their gifts.
Pastoral counseling skills – counseling people Biblically.  Demonstrates a level of interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse staff and church body.
Candidate gives oversight to teaching, preaching, and worship.  Teaches how to make disciples of Christ and equips the church to be effective in sharing of the faith.

The Church
Open Door Congregational Church (ODCC) was founded over 135 years ago in Deer Park, Washington and has continued to provide believers with a place to worship the Lord, develop personal spiritual growth and a heart to love each other and lead our community into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  We believe the Bible is the foundation for our faith and daily lives.

We are being served by an intentional interim pastor using this time to prepare for what God wants us to do in Eastern Washington (ODCC serves the communities of Deer Park, Riverside, Stevens County and North Spokane County.)

The Community
A welcoming town located 15 miles north of Spokane, Washington, offering residents a blend of natural beauty and suburban convenience.  Activities like hiking, skiing, biking, fishing, lakes and rivers.  Civic Light Opera, Symphony, Spokane Indians Baseball, Bloomsday, Hoopfest, Hockey and many other events are available throughout the year.  It is an agricultural area that is adding light industrial businesses.  The community has grown with over 1000 new homes in the last two years.
